Moreton Hall stabbing: Councillor Peter Thompson speaks out after 'harrowing' incident in the early hours of this morning




Town, West Suffolk and county councillor for Moreton Hall Peter Thompson has released a statement after a man was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His comments came hours after a man suffered serious injuries on Winsford Road on the Moreton Hall estate at 3.55am.

The man, who is in his 40s, has since been taken to West Suffolk Hospital before being transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Police have arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Cllr Thompson said: "It was harrowing to learn about Saturday night's events. It is important to stress that this is very much an isolated incident and we must respect that several people's lives have been changed as a result.

"Moreton Hall remains one of the safest and most pleasant places to live in the country and this is very much out of the ordinary."

Witnesses, or anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101 quoting reference CAD 68 of 20 June.
