Academy of Movement, based in Boldero Road, Bury St Edmunds, to hold Carthweel Marathon and Record Breaking event this weekend
A circus, dance and gymnastics academy is aiming to break all records with a fund-raising event.
Academy of Movement, based in Boldero Road, Bury St Edmunds, is holding its Cartwheel Marathon and Record Breaking event this Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which is open to the public, is to help raise funds for upgrades at the academy, which moved to its current location last September.
At the weekend, about 100 students will take part in a marathon cartwheel session, while others attempt Guinness World records, for both children and adults, in activities such as juggling, aerial hoops and slings and trapeze.
There will also be a neon disco, circus skills, aerial try-outs, glitter and neon face painting.
The academy has been offered a match-finding grant by West Suffolk Council of up to £10,000. Anything it raises on the day will be matched by the council and the academy needs to raise the money first to secure it.
Owner Ben Brason, a former Olympic gymnast and the current world record holder for backflips on stilts, said: “Everyone is welcome to come along this weekend whether they want to stay all day or just for ten minutes.
“There is so much going on and we hope to break a few world records, for both adults and children, along the way.”
“All funds raised go towards our Big Rig Upgrade, so people can come and have fun and help us grow to become the best circus school in Britain.
“It is a lively celebration of movement, creativity, and community.”
