Covid cases drop in all five Suffolk districts as free testing comes to an end
Recorded cases of Covid-19 dropped across all five Suffolk districts last week.
This comes as free symptomatic and asymptomatic testing was scrapped by the government at the start of April.
Government data suggests that, as of the week ending April 8, in all five districts the case rate is now 400-499 per 100,000.
Ipswich has seen the most dramatic drop in cases, with just 680 reported in the week, a rate of 500.1 per 100,000 people.
This rate has decreased by 44.3 per cent since the week previous.
The case rate in West Suffolk is now 524.4 per 100,000 people, a drop of 36 per cent since the week previous.
Babergh recorded a total of 584 new cases, a decrease of 32.4 per cent on the previous week and with a case rate of 629.8 per 100,000 people.
In East Suffolk, 1391 cases were recorded and in Mid Suffolk 547 were. The districts saw case rate decreases of 33.7 per cent and 29.5 per cent respectively.
The case rate in Sproughton, Washbrook and Hintelsham had one of the highest recorded case rates with 804.3 per 100,000 people. This is 70 cases and down 5.4 per cent week on week.
The rate in Rickinghall, Walsham le Willows & Gislingham had one of the lowest recorded case rates at 262.3 per 100,000 people. This is down 54.7 per cent week on week.
Sudbury: 763.0 per 100,000 people. 90 cases in total. Down 6.2 per cent since week previous.
South Newmarket & Racecourse: 510.7 per 100,000 people. Down 19.7 per cent.
North Newmarket, Studlands and Exning: 475.3 per 100,000 people. Down 45.3 per cent.
Bury St Edmunds Central: 513.1 cases per 100,000. 45 cases in total. Down 45.8 per cent.
Haverhill North: 678.6 cases per 100,000. 54 cases in total. Down 11.5 per cent.
Lowestoft Central: 517.2 cases per 100,000. 52 cases in total. Down 35.8 per cent.
