The taste of Jamaica has arrived in Lakenheath with the opening of a new restaurant.

Dutchie & Grill is headed by Marie Salim, who had run a mobile trailer selling her authentic Jamaican cuisine in Mildenhall for four years.

Marie said: “My customers were the driving force behind getting a restaurant. They were crying out for a place to sit down and said I needed to open a restaurant.

“Business has been very good, all my customers have followed me to Lakenheath and the British public have also been very supportive.”

Opened on May 30, the restaurant in High Street is ranked among the town’s top eateries on review website Tripadvisor.

Mother of three Marie has added to her menu of Jamaican staples at the restaurant, which also offers takeaway meals.

An official opening is taking place at Dutchie & Grill on September 30 from 6pm.
