Primark Bury St Edmunds teams up with town rickshaw service to deliver care parcels to those in need




A department store is helping support the community this Christmas after teaming up with a rickshaw service.

Primark is donating care parcels which will be delivered to those in need by Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw.

These care parcels, filled with essential items for the winter months, will be distributed to individuals who rely on BSE Rickshaw for transport, ensuring they stay warm and comfortable.

BSE Rickshaw offers free rides around the town to people who, due to limited mobility or other issues. It is the arc Shopping Centre’s current chosen charity.

People can also take part by making donations in the store after purchasing items to add the parcels.

“We are so grateful for the support from arc Shopping Centre and Primark,” said Amanda Martin at BSE Rickshaw.

“This partnership not only helps us provide essential items to those in need but also raises awareness about the importance of community support during the winter months.”

Tim Norton, Primark store manager, said: “The whole team feel very proud to be playing a small part in bringing festive cheer to BSE Rickshaw this festive season.

“We hope that our care parcels will bring warmth and comfort through giving much-needed essentials to those who need it most during the colder months within the wider Bury St Edmunds community.”

Over the past year, arc has raised £1,853.80 for BSE Rickshaw through centre events and the sale of a charity book, Ride the Rickshaw.

Allan Hassell, centre manager, said: “It’s fantastic that Primark has put forward this great initiative to provide these care parcels and work with Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw, as it’s a wonderful way to give back and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

BSE Rickshaw will also distribute and deliver meals as part of the Reducing Isolation with Food (RIF) partnership programme with Abbeycroft and West Suffolk College, supported by Bury St. Edmunds Rickshaw and Bury St. Edmunds Town Council.

The project aims to reduce isolation and build community around the town.
