Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia breaks ground on St Peters Chase, in Ixworth Road, Thurston

A developer has broken ground on a 210-home village site, its first in Suffolk.

The project in Ixworth Road, Thurston – known as St Peters Chase – marks the start of a new chapter for Norwich-based Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, which until now has exclusively focused on Norfolk.

On Monday, senior members of staff gathered to officially cut the sod on the site and mark the beginning of construction.

The site will have 77 open market homes, from two to four-bedrooms, delivered by Barratt and 59 open market properties by David Wilson ranging from two to five-bedrooms.

Simon Wood, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “Breaking ground at St Peters Chase is a proud moment for our team and a significant milestone in the growth of our business.

“We’ve been delivering high-quality new homes across Norfolk for many years, and expanding into Suffolk is a natural next step for us.”

The development will be the first for the Anglia division to include air source heat pumps as standard – a key milestone as the business looks to lower the carbon footprint of its homes and embrace more sustainable ways of building
