Developer Bloor Homes apologises after ‘damage to a gas main’ in Beyton Road, Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, causes loss of supply to around 60 homes




A developer has apologised after damage to a gas main caused a loss of supply to around 60 homes in a Suffolk village.

Bloor Homes Eastern said it “sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused” after the incident in Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, this afternoon, which they say was caused by a contractor.

Cadent gas company issued an ‘emergency alert’ around 4pm warning of an interruption to gas supplies ‘due to damage caused to a gas main by a third party”.

Bloors homes, which is currently building 210 homes off Beyton Road, said this evening: “Bloor Homes Eastern is aware of an incident that took place this afternoon at our development in Thurston, where a third-party contractor struck a low-pressure gas main on Beyton Road, we understand this has impacted around 60 properties in the area.

“Cadent, the statutory undertaker for gas in this area are managing the situation.

“They have made contact by conducting door-to-door checks on the affected properties and are assessing their needs and providing support as required.

“Bloor Homes Eastern sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this incident.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the local community and request that all inquiries related to the incident be directed to the Cadent liaison team, who are on site and are handling the matter.

“Thank you for your understanding. We will provide updates in due course.”
