Devoted son from Brandon aims to raise £2,000 for the people who cared for his dad
A devoted son is about to set off on a 235 mile cycle ride in memory is his father.
Colin Fogg’s challenge will begin on Monday, September 8, and is due to be completed five days later.
Mr Fogg will cycle from his home in Brandon all the way to Blackpool, via Peterborough, Leicester, Stoke and Wigan, to visit family members.
The 47-year-old is raising money for the My WiSH Charity, which supports West Suffolk Hospital.
The money will go to the Macmillan Unit, where his father David Ireland was cared for until his death in April 2019, from lung cancer, aged 72.
Colin, now a full-time carer to his mum, Linda, 71, has previously raised money for the unit with a 15,000ft parachute jump two-and-a-half years ago, which raised £1,000.
Colin, said: “I am determined to complete the ride even if I have to push my bike to Blackpool and I will complete it as I am doing it for my dad.”
"The treatment father received at the Macmillan Unit was fantastic and I wanted to raise money to help repay a debt of gratitude. You cannot ask for better staff than at the unit.
"They looked after dad and my mum so well. They were just brilliant and I cannot praise them enough.”
Mr Fogg has been training every day riding distances of between 20 and 30 miles.
Sue Smith, head of fundraising for My WiSH, said: “We are so lucky to have such amazing cancer services on our doorstep and by supporting My WiSH Charity our fundraisers know it will go directly to their local unit.
"The staff go above and beyond and make a real difference to people at such a difficult time. We wish Colin luck on his challenge but we know he is determined and will do it.”

He is aiming to raise £2,000.
