Nostalgia - Past honorary vice-president of Bury District Football League searches for trophies

A past honorary vice-president of a football league is on the hunt for missing trophies.

Peter Utting, with the help of past secretaries, managers and players, is hoping to locate trophies which were played for over 70 years.

The Bury District Football League, based in and around Bury St Edmunds, had four divisions in the 60s and each division had winners and runners up cups, besides league K.O. trophies.

Peter's goal is to create a museum of artefacts and trophies so that people can view local football history for years to come.

He said: "Anyone who knows anything or knows anybody who can assist me would be greatly appreciated. They may be in clubs, pubs or lofts gathering dust. I would like to hear from you."

Peter has some of the trophies, including the Fass and Wilkin Shield, but cannot find other trophies that are still missing.

The Gratrix Cup is of interest to Peter. He has the winners medals dating 1932-33, but doesn't know who won the trophy or where the trophy itself is.

Anyone with information should contact Peter on 01284761494.
