Bury St Edmunds Nostalgia - Joshua Alberstadt was a canny collector to pay for Scout camp
In 1995 enterprising Joshua Alberstadt from Bury St Edmunds paid his own way to Scout camp by collecting thousands of aluminium cans for recycling.
The eight-year-old Tollgate Primary School pupil raised the £65 needed for the week’s camp in Norfolk and still had £10 pocket money left.
His mother Debbie said Joshua, of Fornham Road, had distributed leaflets to houses near their home asking people to save their cans.
He then collected the cans on Saturday mornings.
Joshua was a member of the Mayor’s Own Scout group in Bury.
