Bury St Edmunds dog owner 'heartbroken' after poodle called Red escapes from garden

A woman has been left 'heartbroken' after her dog was spooked on Tuesday afternoon and ran off.

Karen Woodward of Barton Hill, Bury St Edmunds, has been searching for her missing poodle, Red, after he ran out of her garden due to a gate being accidentally left open at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

Karen had five other dogs who also escaped onto the driveway, but they were all safely recaptured while she believes Red was possibly spooked.

She said: "I feel terrible. I'm devastated and absolutely heartbroken. He's such a beautiful dog and he's so special. He just walks by the side of me normally - I turn, he turns. Absolutely super trained.

"This is very unlike him," she added.

Red is a six-year-old poodle who has just been groomed with a little patch of white under his chin and white speck on his chest. He is also microchipped.

Karen said Red is a friendly dog, but can be quite shy and is particularly nervous of men.

She advises people to get down to Red's level, call his name, and let him sniff their hand.

The last time Red was seen was at Hall Farm in Fornham St Martin, near the Folk Café.

Karen is also offering a £500 reward to anyone who finds Red.

Anyone who spots Red can call Karen on 07776058391 or if he is captured he can be taken to any vets in Bury.
