Dog reportedly abandoned by man in Ashfield Road, Elmswell




A dog was reportedly abandoned by a man in a village.

Police were called to Ashfield Road, in Elmswell, at about 9.20pm yesterday after receiving reports of a dog running loose by the road.

The dog, a small black terrier, was reportedly deliberately left by a man.

The man allegedly offered the dog to members of the public beforehand.

Residents raised concerns for both public safety and the welfare of the dog.

It was safely captured by officers and has been taken to a local kennel for care and assessment.

Police are working to establish the circumstances around the incident and identify the owner.
