Dome to reduce Mildenhall Stadium dance event’s decibel levels
Organisers of an all night Halloween dance event at Mildenhall Stadium will use high tech air domes to keep the sound in.
Unlike previous music events at the stadium, the dawn-’til-dusk Zombie Fest organised by Newmarket-based promoters Big will be based inside the stadium bowl, instead of the carpark field, and will be under an inflated dome.
The dome manufacturers Evolution Dome, of Ramsey, says its metre-thick air cell structure reduces noise.
A Big spokesman said: “They cost more than big tops but we’re not going down the cheap route – we’ve gone the responsible route.
“The air domes reduce noise by up to 20 decibels. We’re looking at other was of keeping the noise in. The only leakage from these domes is the doorways and they’ll be facing into the buildings.
“We’ve got a noise consultant operating throughout the night. We’re very conscious of keeping the locals happy.”
He said letters were being sent to nearby addresses explaining what was going on and giving a phone number in case people were dissatisfied.
The Big’s publicity says it will transform the stadium into ‘an amazing, special one-off clubbers paradise featuring state of the art digital sound and light systems with special effects, breathtaking visuals and the craziest most mind blowing circus style stunt performances’.
DJs include BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Mistajam, Judge Jules, DJ S.K.T, Flashmob, Adam F, The Ratpack, Kenny Ken, Signum and Andy Whitby.
