Driver taken to hospital after car crashes into BP petrol station in Brandon




A driver was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a petrol station in Brandon.

Police, ambulance and the fire service were called to the single vehicle collision at the BP station, in London Road, at about 3.30pm.

The car crashed into a shop on the petrol station forecourt and police believe the driver may have suffered a medical episode just before the collision.

The driver was taken to hospital by land ambulance for treatment.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at 3.21pm as it was believed someone was trapped but the incident had already been dealt with when they arrived.

They were stood down at 3.45pm.

In a Mildenhall Police tweet, a spokesman said: "The road is open but we expect delays whilst we deal with the scene."

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said they sent two ambulances to the scene and transported one patient to West Suffolk Hospital.
