EastEnders' Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat Slater, arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officer outside of Bury St Edmunds' Flex nightclub

EastEnders star Jessie Wallace was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and drunk and disorderly behaviour outside of a Suffolk nightclub, according to national media reports.

The 50-year-old actress, who plays Kat Slater in the soap, is understood to have been detained in the vicinity of Flex nightclub in Bury St Edmunds in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was later released without charge after receiving a conditional caution.

According to The Sun, Jessie had been seen watching Madness perform at Thetford Forest earlier on Saturday.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “A 50 year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and disorderly conduct and was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution.”
