Ed Sheeran pledges undisclosed amount to Suffolk Community Foundation's Covid-19 appeal
Ed Sheeran has donated an undisclosed amount to a campaign to help thousands of vulnerable people through the Covid-19 crisis.
The Framlingham-raised musician has pledged support to Suffolk Community Foundation’s 'rebuilding local lives' appeal.
Tim Holder, of the community fund, thanked Sheeran for the donation this morning (Friday, June 19).
The rebuilding local lives appeal is the latest push for donations to the 'Suffolk coronavirus community fund,' which benefits 230 county charities and groups. So far the appeal has raised £1.2million and reached 120,000 vulnerable people.
Mr Holder said he hopes Sheeran's donation and publicity profile will help the fund reach its target £2million.
He said: "Ed’s visibility as a supporter will really boost our ability to raise awareness of the fund and this new appeal.
"Now we can inspire even more people to support Suffolk charities and community groups to get Suffolk lives back on track as we come out of lockdown."
Funds raised this latest appeal will reach Suffolk charities and community group via Community Foundation grants programme.
"Every penny is very much needed and appreciated.
The donation was timed to coincide with Suffolk Day weekend. The county day is on Sunday, June 21.
Mr Holder added: "We really hope Ed’s gift will inspire many more Suffolk people to find out more about our work and give what they can afford to the appeal.

"Suffolk charities, community groups and neighbourhood schemes are facing overwhelming levels of demand for the help and services they are providing to vulnerable people in Suffolk.
"It is impossible for all their voices to be heard at this time and giving a gift centrally to this appeal will enable those who want to pledge their financial support to really make a difference where help is needed most.’’
