Brandon eight-home development on former Breckland Bingo and Social Club site off London Road approved by planners despite concerns

Eight homes at the site of a former social club have been given the green light by planners despite concerns.

The development, which will see the dwellings built off London Road in Brandon, near Bury St Edmunds, was approved on Wednesday.

Plans will see the homes erected on brownfield land that housed the former Breckland Bingo and Social Club, which operated until the mid-2000s and has already been demolished.

There will be two access routes onto the site, one from London Road and one from Coulson Lane.

Outline plans were approved in September 2019, but concerns were raised by residents surrounding vehicle access and pedestrian safety along Coulson Lane.

While the town council approved the plans in principle, they also raised concerns over access and safety.

Ward councillor Victor Lukaniuk expressed support for the scheme and said it was "acceptable and sympathetic and will greatly enhance the area."

The eight-home plans were granted approval by the committee on Wednesday, February 1.
