Emergency services called to A1120, in Stowupland, near Stowmarket, to ditch rescue




A woman in her 40s has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a ditch on a village road.

The police, fire service and ambulance service were called to the A1120, in Stowupland, at 9.05am, to reports of a single-vehicle collision.

A road closure was put in place while the emergency services worked to remove the driver from her car.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said it had been called, at 9.07am, to reports of a collision at the junction of Bells Lane, Stowupland, and the A1120, Earl Stonham.

She said one ambulance was sent and took the woman to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, for further care.

There are no updates on her condition at this time.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it sent two crews from Stowmarket to the collision, after being called at 9.13am.

The fire service removed the roof of the car to get the driver out.

Recovery services arrived at the scene at 11.13am and the A1120 has now been reopened.
