Farmers’ tractor protest hits A14 between Felixstowe and Bury St Edmunds




Suffolk farmers took part in a ‘go-slow’ protest on the A14 today with a convoy of tractors travelling at 20mph.

The demonstration took place from 10am to 4pm and caused heavy delays on the key road.

The convoy started in Levington before heading towards Bury St Edmunds, then to Felixstowe, before returning to Levington.

The route was as follows:

♦ Depart from Levington, joining the A14 westbound at junction 58 (Seven Hills) to junction 43 (Bury St Edmunds’ St Saviours Interchange).

♦ Exit at junction 43, then return eastbound to Dock Gate 1 in Felixstowe.

♦ Loop around Dock Gate 1 roundabout, then head westbound back to Levington, exiting between junctions 59 and 58.

The protest was part of a nationwide movement by farmers opposing recent government policies including changes to inheritance tax.

Suffolk Police worked with organisers to ensure the protest runs safely and motorists were advised to expect delays and to plan their journeys accordingly.
