Bury Festival set to revisit its roots in 35th year

Festival fever is about to kick in as tickets go on sale for this year’s 35th anniversary event.

The line-up includes music, dance, comedy, walks and talks, with more than 50 events across 12 venues from May 14-24.

The event, run by West Suffolk Council, started in the early 1980s as ‘Weekends of Words and Music’ throughout May. By 1986, this had morphed into the Bury St Edmunds Festival.

In 2020, the festival will be revisiting its beginnings and is hosting a Words Weekend from May 15-17, when stars of literature, radio, stage and screen will discuss topics including mental health, gender roles and feminism.
