Bury St Edmunds Brownies enjoy visit from Lakenheath fighter pilot
A group of Brownies enjoyed a visit from Captain Taiylar ‘Smoke’ Sabin from the 492D Fighter Squadron at USAF Lakenheath.
The 14th Bury St Edmunds Brownies asked the pilot about her job and she told the children about the different planes she has flown.
She also brought along some equipment for the girls to try on including a helmet and inflatable trousers.
Denise Bradley, Brown Owl, said Captain Sabin was a great inspiration and proved that women can excel in roles traditionally seen as male-dominated.
The Brownies also had the opportunity to achieve their Aviation Badge by naming 40 things that fly and making paper aeroplanes.
They then had a competition to see whose flew the furthest with Captain Sabin on hand to help with ideas for the planes.
