Bury St Edmunds financial company marks 30 years
Clients and staff of Beckett Investment Management Group in Bury St Edmunds were treated to an evening's entertainment with TV personality Gyles Brandreth to celebrate the firm's 30th birthday.
The company, based in Dettingen Way, has two divisions - Beckett Financial Services and Beckett Asset Management.
Established by chairman Robert Beckett in 1988, the company employs 50 people in Bury and another 10 at its office in Kibworth, Leicestershire, which specialises in healthcare plans.
The celebration event at Bury Theatre Royal saw a full house enjoying Brandreth's trademark wit and humour and was the major celebration event of the company's 30 years in the town.
The evening raised more than £7,000 for the theatre.
Mr Beckett said: "Bury has changed a great deal in the last 30 years, although the clients we advise are still looking for the same kinds of advice, whether they be individuals keen on their investments being pro-actively managed and protecting their loved ones, or companies needing to ensure that the benefits they provide their employees remain competitive, whilst complying with legislation.
"Financial planning is complex and each year legislative change brings new challenges and the need to reappraise.
"Despite the industry being heavily regulated and perceived as 'stuffy' and run by middle-aged men, Becketts has proven, that by believing in every member of their staff and developing their latent potential, a provincially orientated firm of chartered financial planners, with its head office in Suffolk, can lead the industry into the 21st century."
He added that they have client monies of more than £600 million under the company's direct influence - making Becketts one of the largest firms of its type in the country.
