Fire crews and ambulance service called to gas leak at property in Barn Lane, Bury St Edmunds




Emergency services attended a gas leak at a property in Bury St Edmunds in the early hours.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue was called to reports of a smell of gas at a property in Barn Lane, off Eastgate Street, at 2.38am after being alerted by the ambulance service.

Three engines from Bury St Edmunds and Woodbridge attended and it was confirmed there was a minor gas leak.

A fire service spokesman said a man in his 40s was moved out of the property and left in the care of the ambulance service, while neighbouring properties were checked for safety reasons.

Cadent attended and turned off the gas in the affected property.

Fire crews had left the scene by 3.30am.
