Firefighters battle Walsham Road, outside of Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, blaze involving 700 tonnes of straw

Firefighters battled a blaze involving 700 tonnes of straw near a village.
Two crews were dispatched to the stack blaze in Walsham Road, outside of Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, at 2.14pm.
On arrival they found the straw ‘well alight’.
Crews have used one hose reel jet to battle the flames and the unimog appliance is present.
The bales were in a stack of six bales high and three across.
The incident was under control by around 5.50pm and firefighters will continue to monitor the blaze into the night.
