Firefighters battle blaze involving 60 tonnes of wood in Bardwell




Firefighters battled a blaze involving 60 tonnes of wood in a Suffolk village last night.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 6.07pm to the incident in Bowbeck, Bardwell, with four crews attending.

A spokesman said crews used farm machinery and fire-fighting equipment to combat the blaze.

The fire was dealt with by 8.46pm but crews remained on site until 9.26pm to dampen down the area.

Two crews from Bury St Edmunds attended as well as one from Haverhill and one from Thetford.
