Firefighters called to Ailwin Road, Bury St Edmunds, to battle blaze involving diesel BMW

Firefighters extinguished a blaze involving a diesel BMW this morning.

A crew from Bury St Edmunds was called to Ailwin Road in the town at 10.37am.

Firefighters used small gear to cut away the vehicle’s bonnet and boot, isolating the battery and putting the fire out.

The driver of the BMW was out of the vehicle before the blaze took hold and was unhurt.

The cause of the fire is not known, a fire service spokesperson said.

The incident was under control by noon.
