Bury St Edmunds company helps clean up beach
Energy saving company SaveMoneyCutCarbon, based at Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, spent a day cleaning up plastic from Felixstowe beach.
A team from the company covered more than 22 miles as they picked up a range of plastic ahead of World Environment Day on Tuesday.
This was the company’s first beach clean up which cleared a range of plastic waste from the beach including nappies, plastic cutlery, straws, bottles, cups and pens.
Chief operating officer Holden Cook who took part, said: “As a sustainable green company we are fully behind this year’s World Environmental Day theme on ridding the world of plastic pollution. One of the best things about working at SaveMoneyCutCarbon is that we can make an environmental difference with our products and services.
“We can all do our bit by reusing and recycling - it’s the way we will beat plastic pollution once and for all. We are urging industries, communities and individuals to stop using single-use plastic polluting oceans and damaging marine life.
SaveMoneyCutCarbon is sponsoring this year's Bury Free Press Business Awards, Green/Environment award.
During the beach clean up members of the team said how each of them were cutting single use plastic in their own lives.
