A Bury St Edmunds housing association has hired eleven extra staff recently as part of its ongoing expansion plans.

The latest members of the team were employed as part of a recruitment drive seeing the company, which provides affordable accommodation across East Anglia, increase its workforce by 39% since last January.

The growth in employee numbers comes after the company announced plans to purchase 400 existing properties and build over 200 new homes in the region over the next three years.

It also recently announced plans to build a new £2m headquarters on the Moreton Hall estate.

Suffolk Housing chief executive, Ian Winslet, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to offer these exciting new jobs to local people.”

Speaking about her new role as a customer services advisor, Mehwash Hussain, 27, said she was “thoroughly enjoying” her new job after previously working in the waste management industry.

“It’s completely different. It’s a lovely, positive environment.”
