He said: “It’s been a very hectic couple of months and I’m so happy with how everything’s turned out, I’ve had time to settle now and realise that the space actually looks really good.

“I’ve worked for other people for such a long time so it’s so nice to finally do something for yourself.

“It’s early days and we’re all still settling in – but I’m sure it will feel like a second home in a couple of weeks.”

Salon Bett’s is named after Lewis’ nan Betty who died last year and inspired him to start his own salon.

He previously worked at Rush in the arc Shopping Centre and Lipstick and Locks, in Abbeygate Street, as well as helping to launch The Good Part in Mildenhall.

The new salon is open Tuesday and Saturday from 9am to 8pm, with earlier closing times on Wednesday at 6pm and Saturday at 4pm.

Lewis is currently studying trichology, a holistic approach to scalp and hair health, which he hopes to integrate into the salon’s offerings.

He believes this service, which treats conditions such as alopecia and psoriasis, is underrepresented in Suffolk and aims to be the first in Bury to provide it.
