Watch firefighters continue to tackle five-house blaze in Hengrave near Bury St Edmunds




These pictures and footage reveal the extent of the devastation caused by a massive blaze which engulfed five homes in a Suffolk village.

Firefighters are still dealing with the damage at the scene in Bury Road, Hengrave, near Bury St Edmunds, where five thatched cottages were destroyed.

Fifteen fire crews from across the county battled the flames after they were alerted in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters have spent hours damping down the affected area and a structural engineer attended following the collapse of the roof.

The A1101 Bury Road in Hengrave has reopened after it was shut both ways by police.

A fire service spokesman said an investigation will be launched to determine the exact cause.
