Fornham House care home has retained its 'good' Care Quality Commission rating

A Fornham St Martin residential care home has maintained its ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Fornham House care home was visited by the commission in November in an unannounced visit.

Inspectors spoke to staff, residents, relatives and the registered manager to determine if the home was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. It was rated as ‘good’ in all five areas.

The report said: “The staff knew people well and had developed caring relationships with them. There was a relaxed atmosphere throughout and people were happy in the company of staff.”

Stuart Coleman, manager, said: “It’s wonderful to retain this positive rating from our industry inspectors.

“Everyone at Fornham House works with the ethos that the home belongs to our residents and we must do all we can to ensure they feel that way. We put all our efforts into making sure they are happy, comfortable and relaxed.

“We’ll now use this report to continue to improve our services.”

The home cares for up to 73 people, but 60 were living there at the time of the inspection.

The report added: “The service was well-led and provided strong leadership which promoted a positive, caring culture which was focussed on the needs of people who used the service.”

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care.
