Four suspected shoplifters arrested after stealing from local shops in Bury St Edmunds
Four suspected shoplifters were arrested in a Suffolk town.
Police officers arrested four women after a car and thousands of pounds of clothing in Bury St Edmunds were seized.
Officers were made aware of thefts from a retailer in the town at about 2.15pm on Friday and shortly after stopped a vehicle in Compiegne Way in which items of clothing believed to have been taken from different retailers were discovered.
The women, aged 42, 37, 50 and 42 years, were arrested on suspicion of theft from shops.
The group, from Essex and the Greater London areas, were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they were further arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal for theft.
One woman was also further arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance.
The women have since been released on bail to return to police in November.
