West Suffolk College outreach centres, including in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Thetford, to host free English and maths courses

College outreach centres are hosting free summer schools for people who want to boost their English and maths skills.

These intensive one-week summer schools are being offered by West Suffolk College at its outreach centres based in Bury St Edmunds, Chatteris, in Cambridgeshire, Haverhill, Sudbury and Thetford.

In addition to the one-week English courses, programmes in maths are also available.

Clare Morgan, head of personal and professional development centres for West Suffolk College and the Eastern Education Group, said: “We have a series of English and maths courses starting in July.

“They will take place over the course of a week - starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm from Monday through Friday – with an exam taking place at the end.

“They are intensive and free to the majority of people and ideal for those who need these qualifications to start a course in September this year.

“There is no age cap although they are mainly for people who are aged 19+. We will look at those who are keen to do this who are under the age of 19 on a case by case basis.

“For those who would prefer gaining these qualifications over a longer period of time, our 14 week programmes will take place at the centres from September.”
