A family fun day has raised more than £1,000 for a charity registered nursery to pay for new toys and equipment for children.

It was hosted by Guildhall Feoffment Preschool and Nursery, in Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday and offered a barbecue, stall holders selling sweet treats and cakes, a bouncy castle, a raffle, face painting and games.

Businesses donated raffle prizes including tickets to Colchester Zoo, day passes for High Lodge, a £45 voucher to use at Giggling Squid, the latest Bury Town Football shirt and an afternoon tea for two.

Manager Carly Shannon said: “The day was a great success full of fun, laughter and sunshine – while raising funds for our fabulous nursery.

“I'd like to say thank you to everyone who came on the day, to all of the wonderful support from the families and the community, the fantastic staff team and fundraising committee for all of their time and effort.”

The event also featured a visit from a PCSO with their police car, much to the delight of the children.

The nursery, which caters to children from nine months to four years old, regularly organises various fundraising activities but continues to rely on extra support from events like this.
