Music fan raises money for Bury St Edmunds West Suffolk Hospital My Wish charity - with a little help from G4
A music fan is raising money for a hospital charity with a little help from a famous four-piece vocal group.
Tricia Forrest-Morley, from Rattlesden, has organised two tickets for G4’s Christmas concert at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday, December 21.
The show has already sold-out - but Tricia has organised the exclusive ‘meet-and-greet’ tickets directly with the group, which people can win through a raffle.
Money raised through the raffle will go to the My Wish charity in support of Ward G4 at the WestSuffolk Hospital, where many patients suffer from dementia and delirium.
Tricia said: “I am a huge music lover and I have always been a fan of G4. This Cathedral concert is a magical event which I have attended for a number of years.”
“I came up with the idea to contact the manager of the group G4 to see if they would support the My Wish charity, and they agreed.”
Tricia has been campaigning on behalf of My Wish, which raises money for West Suffolk Hospital, in memory of her mum, who lived with Alzheimer’s
G4 came to prominence when they finished second in Series 1 of The X Factor in 2004, and are known for their operatic delivery of modern pop songs.
The quartet, who are currently celebrating 20 years since their appearance on The X Factor, agreed to donate two ‘meet-and-greet’ tickets to benefit dementia care at the hospital.
Tricia also supported My WiSH during their ‘Grow Your Dough’ initiative this year, which has led to the introduction of an activity assistant role on Ward G4 to keep patients mentally stimulated.
More than 30 teams from across Suffolk took part in the fundraiser, raising over £31,300 to provide the role.
Now in post, the activity assistant has helped patients with reminiscence therapy, arts and crafts, and more to support their recovery.
Sue Smith, head of fundraising for the charity, added: “We are so grateful to Tricia for her ongoing support and generous donation of these tickets to this hugely popular event.
“Our thanks must also go to those who have kindly entered the competition, or simply donated to benefit dementia care at the hospital.
“Our activity assistant service, which costs approximately £114 per day to run, is proving to be a lifeline for these patients and every penny goes towards continuing this enhancement.”
The G4 Christmas ticket competition will close on Friday, December 13 and the winner will be contacted shortly after.
The G4 Christmas concert will be hosted at St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds from 7.30pm – 9.30pm on Saturday, December 21.
