The boss of a manufacturer of garden rooms, offices and studios had three good reasons to celebrate this week.

Matt Moss and the team at Smart, based at Church Road, Thurston, Suffolk, celebrated opening the company’s new showroom following ‘significant investment’.

The showroom was opened by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Mark Pendlington, on Tuesday, which was also the third anniversary of a management takeover of the company, in 2019.

Since the takeover, the company, which was originally founded in 2006, has doubled its workforce to 65 as well as further cementing its reputation as one of the country’s leading garden room manufacturers.

Smart’s garden rooms, offices and studios are bespoke to customer needs and designs, and all are made on site. These can be anything from garden offices, fitness and wellbeing rooms, creative spaces, entertainment rooms, outdoor classrooms, and general garden rooms.

Around 45 people attended the official opening of the new showroom, which also coincided with the Suffolk Day, the annual celebration of the county.

“It was a great day,” said managing director Matt.

“We had food, drink and music and it was great to launch the new showroom, something we have been planning since we took over, but has been held due to Covid restrictions and lockdowns.

“The majority of the showroom makeover has been inside and we are now able to display seven styles, including a gym and bar, office and lounge, relaxation room with outside area, a school playroom and commercial unit.

“I would like to thank Mark Pendlington for opening the showroom, the staff for their continued hard work, as well as the three companies, Gardenology, Jordan Fitness and Gosh Projects who helped us set up the designs in the showroom.”
