New equestrian business launches as Georgia fulfils her dream

A passion for horses has lead a Haughley woman to open up her own family run business which offers a wide range of equestrian skills to riders and also a safe haven to rescue horses

Georgia Leader-White, 24, left her job as an events manager at Ravenwood Hall last November and has just opened GLH-Equestrian at Haughley Green.

Joining her in the venture is her younger sister Harriet, 20, who is currently studying sport and exercise psychology at Lougborough University.

The sisters have a wealth of show jumping championships to their name and both have completed the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence scheme.

Georgia, who has been riding since she was eight, is offering customers one to one classes as well as stable management.

|She said: "A local riding school closed and I thought it was now or never. I've always wanted to do the horses and as I'm based at my parents' home I have facilities on hand."

Georgia who grew up in West Suffolk began show jumping at the age of 15. Her 20-year-old piebald Ted engendered the idea as people kept asking to have riding lessons on him. Georgia then bought a further four ponies to add the the stables.

She has won the National Discovery finals and Pony of the Year Show as well as winning her class at the Royal Norfolk Show. She is also named in the Young Rider Top 50.

GLH-Equestrian officially opened on June 23 with an open day which featured demonstrations and fun events including a show jumping master class and drill rides to music.
