Councillors are due to sign off on the aims of a group which will review the future of civic leadership for the new West Suffolk Council.

The West Suffolk Shadow Council, set up to help with the transition to the new authority, meets on Tuesday and is recommended to approve the 'terms of reference' for the Civic Leadership Working Group.

Under the terms, the group is expected to engage with residents, parish and town councils, businesses and other organisations on the future of civic leadership including whether the new council should have a mayor.

Its work should conclude this autumn.

A council spokesman said the new group should be formed and start its work by the end of this month.
