Heavy rain to lash Suffolk, including Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall and Newmarket, as Met Office issues yellow weather warning
Rain is set to lash parts of Suffolk later today as a yellow weather warning has been issued.
The Met Office has said large parts of the East of England and the Midlands, including towns such as Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Haverhill and Mildenhall, may face disruptions due to heavy rain.
This comes as wet weather – with most places seeing between 15 and 40 mm of rain – is forecast between 8am and 6pm.
According to the Met Office, bus and rail services in affected areas may face disruption today and commuters should expect delays.
Roads may also become waterlogged, which could have an impact on travel times and flooding in homes and businesses is likely.
Power supply may also be interrupted, the body said.
The Met Office said rain would ease across the north through the early afternoon, before clearing in the south by this evening.
