Onehouse schoolgirl receives reply from letter she sent to the Queen

The postman delivered a welcome surprise for a Onehouse six-year-old on Monday, in the shape of an unexpected letter from royalty.

When her school closed in March Hollie Catherall decided to write to the Queen as a way of practicing her writing skills, but she did not expect to receive a response.

In her letter, the Norton Primary School pupil urged the Queen to keep safe during the coronavirus pandemic, to sing happy birthday while washing her hands regularly, wished her a happy birthday and sent her good wishes to the Queen’s corgis.

In the response, one of the Queen’s ladies in waiting thanked Hollie for her letter, said the Queen appreciated her thoughts and that she hoped Hollie was keeping safe and well.

Her mum Danyelle said: “I think Hollie was shocked when she got the letter, but not as shocked as I was. She couldn’t wait to tell her friends and we emailed her schoolteacher to tell her straight away. Now, Hollie wants the letter in a frame.”
