Ixworth Christmas lights raise funds for two good causes this festive season
An eye-catching lights display in Ixworth is not only raising Christmas cheer but funds for two charitiies.
The Curry family’s colourful installation, in Micklesmere Drive, will boost the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Facial Palsy UK.
Leanne Curry said her daughter Faye, now 15, was diagnosed with diabetes aged three-and-a-half, while her daughter Maddie, 13, was diagnosed with facial palsy last year.
The family has been inviting donations to charity since 2016, when they raised £381 for JDRF. In 2017 the total for JDRF was £1,052, in 2018 £272 and 2019 £750. Last year – when donations were split between JDRF and Facial Palsy UK – £200 was raised.
“We always have a brilliant reaction to the lights so we are keen to raise awareness that they are here for the charities we are supporting,” said Leanne.
“We normally keep them up until January 1.”
