Things to do on the National Trust’s Ickworth Estate, near Bury St Edmunds, in the run up to Christmas
The Ickworth Estate, near Bury St Edmunds, has been transformed for Christmas with children able to meet Santa and explore a winter trail during the festive season.
From today, the rotunda on the estate has been decorated with a theme of Christmas on the Continent.
The historic building has been adorned with decorations that show the journey of Earl Bishop and his family when they toured Europe.
Visitors to the Ickworth Estate will be able to enjoy the festive display until January 5.
Watch and meet Santa
On December 6 and 13, children aged between two and six will be able to enjoy a show featuring Santa, in the gallery.
After the performance, brought to Ickworth by KD Theatre, every child will get the chance to meet Father Christmas and collect a present.
Tickets for the shows, costing £8 per adult and £12 per child, must be booked in advance on the National Trust website.
Winter trail
For those who prefer exploring outdoors, there will be the opportunity to explore a winter trail through woodland on the estate.
To complete the family-friendly trail, children will need a trail sheet which comes at an extra cost.
Christmas crafts for children
Little ones will be able to get stuck into some Christmas crafts, with sessions running from December 19 to January 5.
The National Trust will be suggesting a donation for this activity.
Late night shopping
Anyone looking to buy a few Christmas gifts may want to pop into the late night shopping evenings at Ickworth.
These will run between December 6-8 and December 13-15
