Cartoonist John Elson draws on the news for inspiration

Bury Free Press cartoonist John Elson looked to the heavens for inspiration this week.

But as usual, John had his own take on our story about the Draconid meteor shower. It obviously reminded him of a certain nursery rhyme.

Did you get a glimpse of the meteors?

John, a self-taught artist, has been drawing cartoons for newspapers for nearly 20 years.

He draws the cartoons digitally using a stylus and large art tablet.

He also attends festivals, weddings and corporate events drawing live caricatures.
