Cartoonist John Elson casts his eye over the week's news

Bury Free Press cartoonist John Elson this week looks forward to May Day – May 1 – for his contribution.

A day full of traditions, John picks on maypole dancing to raise a smile.

John, a self-taught artist, has been drawing cartoons for newspapers for nearly 20 years.

He draws the cartoons digitally using a stylus and large art tablet. His cartoon today is sponsored by specialist insurers The Assist Group.

He also attends festivals, weddings and corporate events drawing live caricatures.
