Mystery Elmswell Elf wants to reassure Suffolk village residents after questions asked about what she is really up to
A 'mystery elf' who has anonymously delivered more than 150 presents in the village where she lives wants to reassure residents after some people questioned what she is up to.
The elf, who made national headlines this week, wants to reassure villagers after posts on her local community Facebook board have suggested she is up to mischief - from planting electronic devices to targetting houses and even 'trying to poison people'.
The woman, who has lived in the Suffolk village for more than a decade, was inspired to take up her mission of delivering the gifts anonymously by a group of elderly people in Mann's Court.
She wanted to show them the community spirit is alive and well in Elmswell - before having the idea to spread the same goodwill to the rest of the village.
The elf said: "I just want to reassure people I am not some kind of weird, mental, crazy stalker type.
"People have been suggesting I have been doing all kinds of things after I was spotted on a doorbell camera - from planting electronic devices to targetting houses and trying to poison people.
"That's not the case at all. I just want to do my bit for the community."
The Elf started leaving gifts on November 30 .
She goes out every night, under the cover of dark, and has been paying for the gifts herself.
Some have also been donated.
At first, many residents thought the gifts, which include, cards, flowers, and bulbs, had been left by mistake.
But after her story hit the headlines, she said the response has been 'completely overwhelming.
"The video was shared on Facebook, and before I knew it I had a call from This Morning and was asked to appear on TV," she said.
"I wore a silver, wig, had my back to the camera, and they disguised my voice, thankfully.
"I never thought it would get to this level but I am determined to carry on my mission until Christmas Eve.
"There is lots of talk in the village about who I am but I want to carry on my mission anonymously and spread a little Christmas cheer.
"Next week I will be leaving chocolate gifts to give make it magical for the kids."
