Couple from Fornham All Saints near Bury St Edmunds delighted with dandelion sculpture designed by John Groady from JG Sculpture

A couple from a Suffolk village are delighted with their new dandelion sculpture after it was installed in their front garden this morning.

Paul and Sue, of Fornham All Saints near Bury St Edmunds, can’t believe how good the 2.3 metre tall sculpture has turned out after they’d asked John Goadby of JG Sculpture to do the job for them.

The couple had been considering getting a piece of art in the shape of a dandelion since last year and part of the reason was to have it to commemorate their 40th wedding anniversary in June.

Paul, 60, said: “It’s fabulous, absolutely fabulous and I can't believe how good it is.

“We saw some dandelions in the Midlands last year in Trentwell Gardens and we haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

“The way it catches the sun is unbelievable and John has done an absolutely brilliant job, he's a really clever guy.”

It is now the fourth dandelion sculpture John has done, with a fifth one commissioned for a client in Guernsey next year.

It took about a week for the statue to be made and the top section, which is zinc-plated, sparkles if the sun is shining down on it.

He said: “It’s an interesting and really nice object, and I just think it's a stunning piece.

“It demonstrates you don’t have to have too much space for something like it and it makes a striking addition to the house.

“It’s viewable from the road and I’m sure it will bring a smile to the local community too.”
