Great Barton's Montana Care Home near Bury St Edmunds hosts birthday bash for 100-year-old
A 100-year-old woman celebrated her birthday in style on Wednesday with live music, cake and dancing.
Helen Putnam, or Betty as she likes to be called, was thrown a surprise birthday bash by the sisters at Montana Care Home in Great Barton.
Betty said: “This was so unexpected, I never expected anything like this. But this is the things they do. It’s not just a one off, they’re doing this all the time.”
Betty, originally from Hertfordshire, worked as a kitchen administrator and accountant for the RAF from age 18 where she later met her husband.
After the war they moved to Bury St Edmunds.
Betty also worked as an accountant at British Movietone News which she said she enjoyed as she ‘loved working with money’.
On turning 100, she said: “I don’t feel any different.”
And her long and happy life she puts down to the care she receives from the sisters.
