Co-owner of sandwich shop Sammidge Stackers in Bury St Edmunds left shocked and upset after burglary
A co-owner of a sandwich shop in a Suffolk town has been left shocked and upset following a burglary.
Nichola McAllister and her fiancé Ian Stackman, discovered their business Sammidge Stackers in Bury St Edmunds had been burgled in the early hours of Sunday.
The door to the shop had been smashed in and items including a laptop, a phone and cash boxes, had been stolen.
Ms McAllister, of Bury, said: “This is the first time something like this has happened to me and I was left really shaken up by it.
“I wasn’t angry at all and I was just really upset and I felt quite violated.
“It’s almost like an out of body experience and it was a bit surreal - we’re only a small business so it’s not been easy really.”
The sandwich shop, which was previously located in the Moreton Hall estate, opened at its current site at The Haberden, Rougham Road, in May earlier this year.
Following the recent burglary, the co-owners have received floods of support from customers.
Nichola said: “Our customers have honestly been absolutely phenomenal and have been so supportive.
“We appreciate every single one of them out there for being so caring and I would like to say thank you to everyone as it means a lot.
“I also want to thank Viki Goulding who has just been an absolute star.”
Sammidge Stackers remains open and is still taking orders despite the burglary.
A Suffolk Police spokesperson said officers are investigating the burglary and anyone with information is asked to get in contact, quoting crime reference 37/59982/24.
