Team behind Bury St Edmunds Italian restaurant Rustico have bought Lucy’s Pizzeria, in Fornham All Saints
A popular restaurant and takeaway near Bury St Edmunds has reopened under new ownership.
Lucy’s Pizzeria, in Fornham All Saints, has been taken on by the team behind Rustico Italian restaurant, in Risbygate Street, Bury.
In a post on Facebook, the new owners said: “Ciao everyone, Gary and Michele here. We would like to introduce ourselves and hope to meet you in person soon.
“We both live in Bury and something we have in common is that we both love good food and company to share it with.
“Lucy's has the real taste of Italian pizza and pasta and this is something we will continue. Lucy's Pizzeria will still deliver the same experience in quality food, traditional recipes and a great atmosphere. Giuseppe will still be here to create many more pizzas and specials for you.
“We look forward to seeing you soon.”
Lucy’s Pizzeria restaurant and takeaway was opened by Lucy Pretorious and her husband Francois in 2019.
Lucy decided to pass on the baton after becoming a mother last year.
The restaurant has been open under its new ownership since Saturday.
Michele said customers would not notice many changes initially, with the plan being to carry on serving the ‘same great pizza’ Lucy’s was known for.
However, in the coming weeks and months he said the menu might expand to include more dishes, while the intention was to start opening on Sunday mornings from August to offer Italian Sunday lunches.
“We are going to keep the same name and the same brand,” he said. “When Lucy’s opened I always loved it, I loved the restaurant and I loved the pizza and I just loved the place, so I was very keen to buy it.”
And Rustico would ‘carry on the same’, said Michele, who praised the team around him for their help.
