Monica Uddin, owner of Nan’s Thai Restaurant, in Stag Park between Elmswell and Woolpit, looking forward to the future
The 18-year-old owner of a new Thai restaurant is looking forward to the future after a packed opening week.
Monica Uddin welcomed the public to Nan’s Noodle Bar and Restaurant in Stag Park, on the old A45 between Elmswell and Woolpit, for the first time last Tuesday.
The restaurant is next to another of her family’s businesses, Mon Mon Spice, and Monica said the new outlet has benefitted from an existing loyal customer base.
Nan’s Noodle Bar serves a range of authentic Thai dishes including curries, noodles and stir fries as well as sizzling grills, fish dishes, steaks and more.
Monica said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge, our food reputation is second to none.
“It’s what my parents have done so I’m carrying on with what the family have been doing.
“We serve the best Thai food, cooked from the heart and served in lovely surroundings.
“It’s got a personal background for me as my mum is from Thailand, so it’s nice to embrace my culture.”
Monica said the location, as well as being next to Mon Mon, was a key draw for the new restaurant as it has plenty of parking, is easily accessible off the A14 and is well situated between Elmswell, Woolpit, Wetherden and Haughley.
She said the chef Nan’s food is well renowned and Thai people come to her restaurant’s to eat it.
The venue has Singha and Peroni lager on draught, as well as a range of bottled beers, ciders and soft drinks.
“I’ve got experience from working in the family’s businesses, I’ve always been involved, so it’s onwards and upwards,” said Monica.
Nan’s Noodle Bar is open Tuesday to Sunday, serving lunch between noon and 2.30pm, and then a dinner service from 5pm to 10pm.
It offers a set lunch menu and meal deal, as well as a 10 per cent discount on takeaways, which is collection only.
Mon Mon spice opened in February 2022.
